Business engagement
The award-winning Business Engagement project promotes and facilitates business engagement in the South Islington area. Our Business Links co-ordinator brokers and encourages sustainable partnerships between corporate businesses and community organisations and schools.
The project is sponsored and supported by Hogan Lovells, the international law firm that is based locally.
The Business Link Co-ordinator matches community projects and residents with corporate volunteers to support the valuable work that is undertaken by them.
This support come in many forms, primarily through staff volunteering their time to local community organisations and schools and includes:
Practical Volunteering – this takes the form of a “team challenge” where teams of volunteers from our corporate partners will spend the day with you. Examples of support have included the decoration of two community halls, numerous gardening projects as well as support at community events.
ProBono Support – advice and help from local businesses that arise where organisations need professional service support.
Areas of support include Legal, Property, Finance and Business and PR and Marketing.
Support to residents – this is where corporate volunteers assist in providing services to the community usually as part of an ongoing service.
Examples of support provided include: mentoring local pupils as part of a inter-schools debating project; one-to-one IT support to local residents, employment and interview seminars for residents looking for work, and a Christmas giving scheme where local employees and businesses buy presents for vulnerable residents.
