The New St Luke's Centre (update July 2010)

St Luke's is about to embark on a multi-million pound building project to refurbish, remodel, refit and extend the community centre.

As we are about to enter into the detailed design and planning stages, we are seeking the views and ideas of local residents, groups, service providers and other stakeholder groups to ensure the centre really fits the needs of the community now and in the future.

Download the architects drawings for the new centre, showing the different building phases, complete our online questionnaire, visit one of our consultation venues and events. Plans for new centre

Background to new centre

Since 2007, St Luke's has changed expanded its focus beyond helping local residents over 55 years old, and now offers or hosts activities and services for the whole community.

It soon became apparent that despite our successes in attracting greater numbers to the centre and providing many more activities to local people, the community centre building has many issues and problems that limit our full potential.

The improved and extended centre will overcome these problems. The new centre will reflect our multi-purpose character and be truly open, welcoming and accessible to all. The current centre is also expensive to run and maintain; the new centre will be cheaper to operate, easier to maintain, and provide new means to increase and diversify our income.
