We had a special day with our over 55s members and St Luke's History Group on Friday 18th March celebrating the anniversary of the day the Queen opened our Community Centre on 18th March 1982.

Our guests came to the Club Room and watched a video of the Queen opening the Centre with local residents crowded inside and out. The video showed how much the Centre and the local area have changed in those forty years. It included footage from a cinema building that used to be next to St Luke's, and it panned around Central Street to show different views of the area.

Guests at our reception were offered a glass of bubbly and an afternoon tea of sandwiches and scones, and we all enjoyed watching the hour-long video and chatting about the Centre and what it has meant to the area for forty years. A few guests, including Joe Trotter, remember the opening well, and he spoke to the Islington Tribune about his memories.
