About us Latest news Gardening in February Regular gardening sessions for adults: Our adult Tuesday and Thursday gardening session take place on a weekly basis. These informal sessions are a chance to meet local people interested in community gardening and share and learn gardening skills. Despite the cold weather a group is always outside or in the greenhouse tending to the many winter garden jobs we have. We always finish off with a well-deserved cuppa and bikkies! Come and join us! What’s happening in our gardens: It’s pruning, potting and moving time for many of our plants in the garden, we have cut back our hazel in the Wildlife hedgerow and planted some new native hedging along the back wall. On the terrace we have been propagating and re-planting some of the shrubs needing more space We have plentiful amounts of worm tea from our wormeries, this is a nutrient-rich concentrated liquid fertiliser. Many of our bulbs are already peeking out the earth We are keeping our bird feeders topped up with mixed seeds as there isn’t much available for them on plants at this time of year We have set up two new planters for growing veggies near our greenhouse. The show piece in the Edible Yard at the moment is our three foot tall collard leaves plant, known as Tree Kale. One leaf can almost make a meal in itself and our chickens love it! After school gardening Club Our afterschool gardening group has started up again with lots of exciting activities planned for getting hands in the mud and learning about lifecycles, wildlife and more. Come along with all the family every Wednesday, 4-5pm. Find out more here.
