Telephone befriending service

Since lockdown we have been engaging by telephone with our members on our befriending scheme. We have contacted over 200 residents and supported many isolated people by befriending, giving advice, signposting to other organisations and giving support access Cloudesley Crisis grant.

If you know someone who could benefit from a daily phone call during lockdown, for a chat or to check they are coping and have what they need, please give our helpline a call for details. We want everyone in our community to feel safe and able to stay home.

This is feedback from one of our members:

“I am writing this letter to say a huge thank you to St Luke’s for your help and support during the coronavirus.

The lovely fresh food that you gave to people in need, such as myself, was wonderful at a time when a lot of people were struggling to get to the shops. You are a wonderful organisation and we are lucky to have you in Islington.

A special thank you to Tsedal for her kindness and patience helping me to complete the necessary forms for food and amenities vouchers and for always taking my calls when I had questions or concerns.”

From Charlotte

What a lovely letter showing how valuable our befriending service can be at times like these. If you know anyone who is isolated and could benefit from this service, please call St Luke’s and let us know the details.
