Cooking in February Thanks to the popularity of our family classes we have decided to create classes that are fit for all. See a full calendar of events for February here. On Mondays from 4-6pm we offer our Family Cook and Eat classes for parents and children to cook together, we welcome children from four years old and older. On Wednesdays from 4-6pm we offer our Family Cook and Eat classes for parents and children to cook together, we welcome children from six years old and older. For half term we have a ‘Kids alone’ class and this is for children ages 8-16 years old. These classes will take place on 12th and 14th of February 11am-1pm. So if you want to leave the kids with us, we will look after them and teach them some cooking tricks and we’ll feed them too! Our ‘Family day’ class for half term is for younger children so they can cook with their parents. This is for 4-10 years old and this is perfect to spend some quality time with your children. Advance booking for all of our classes is essential and you can book by filling a booking form and hand it to St Luke’s reception. Our booking forms are available from St Luke’s, you can download a calendar and form from our website www.slpt.org.uk. Remember to ask for a copy as a proof of receipt as you will need to bring this to the class. Our monthly cookery club will be delivered by superchef and teacher Mark Breen. Mark specialises in seasonal cooking and to prove that February is full of seasonal foods, he will be creating a very special menu for us at Central Street. Save the date: Wednesday 28th February 7-9.30pm. Are you a dad? Do you have young children? Watch this space! On the first three Sundays in March we will be offering a very special course for dads and kids to garden and cook together. The course is free and is available to all fathers in Islington. A booking form will be available from our website and from St Luke’s Community Centre very soon! Dates 4th, 11th, 18th March 10am-1pm. We love the Hairy Bikers and this is a seasonal recipe that is nutritious, seasonal, healthy and delicious! Roast Cauliflower with Cashewnuts Serves 4 as a side dish Ingredients 1 large cauliflower, broken into florets 1 lime, zest and juice only 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped 1 tbsp olive oil or nut oil 100g/3½oz cashew nuts salt and freshly ground black pepper 25g/1oz parmesan, grated Method Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Bring a large saucepan of water to the boil and add the cauliflower. Blanch for 2-3 minutes, then drain. Put a tea towel over the steaming cauliflower and leave to dry for a few minutes. Mix the lime juice and zest with the garlic and oil. Put the cauliflower and cashew nuts in a roasting tin and pour over the lime and garlic mixture, mixing thoroughly. Season with salt and pepper. Roast in the oven for 10 minutes, then sprinkle over the parmesan. Roast for a further 10 minutes until the cashew nuts are golden-brown and the cauliflower has started to brown in places. Serve.
