It's been an eventful month at Central Street Cookery School with some great community cookery classes - lots of our local residents cooking up delicious food and enjoying it together.

Our Afghan cookery class was for new refugee families living in the area. A group of nine mums gathered in the afternoon and cooked up an incredible feast of traditional Afghan food. They were then joined after school by their families, and the group sat around in our dining room and enjoyed a meal together. What a wonderful event bringing together a group living locally.

Just some of the lovely feast enjoyed by our families:

The Beyond the Potato cooking class, a collaboration between London-based Irish food writer Niamh Shields and Islington Council to celebrate Irish Month, celebrated modern Irish cooking with four recipes that centred around Irish flavours. Some traditional like proper Irish brown soda bread and potato cakes, to more unusual takes like Niamh's black pudding ragu (which has to be tried!). It was a lively and fun evening, finishing with an incredible feast.
