Volunteering St Luke’s Community Centre relies on volunteers to enable us to run the wide range of activities and services that we do. There are a range of volunteering opportunities available, from reception and administrative help, to catering support and facilities maintenance. By volunteering people are contributing to their community, meeting new people and gaining experience. Appeal for Christmas Volunteers! We run various events in December and rely on volunteers to help us. We have opportunities to help at our Christmas Fayre on Saturday 9th December: we need help in our Cafe, setting up stalls and helping with activities, and helping members of the public between 10.30 and 5pm. On 19th December we have a lunch for our members, and need help all day (9.30am - 5pm), setting up tables for lunch, preparing and giving out food, chatting to members, tidying up and general assistance to make the day enjoyable and fun. On Christmas Day (Mon 25th December) we need volunteers from 9.00am to 6.00 pm with tasks like Reception, assisting in the kitchen (under direction of a chef), serving meals, clearing up and helping with activities. We also need a mini bus driver and escorts. If you are interested in volunteering please call us on 020 7549 8181. St. Luke's Volunteer Policy (PDF) Read about our volunteer Luisa Luisa is one of our volunteers, giving up her time every Thursday to offer manicures for just £5 to over 55s members. Luisa kindly donates all this money to St Luke’s, which is vital to help fund future services and activities. The thought of sitting at home after retirement didn’t suit Luisa, and with extensive professional experience in manicuring, she wanted to do something she loved that benefited other people. She has now been coming to St Luke’s for approximately ten years, and loves the companionship. Over that time Luisa has raised hundreds of pounds towards activities in the club room. Luisa is an active member of St Luke’s, and is a regular at our art classes, sewing classes and lunch club. In her spare time she also sings in a local choir, so life is never quiet! The work of our volunteers helps St Luke's Community Centre offer the range and variety of services and activities it does on a daily basis. If you would like to help out, why not fill in the form above or contact us?
