Volunteering St Luke’s Community Centre relies on volunteers to enable us to run the wide range of activities and services that we do. There are a range of volunteering opportunities available, from reception and administrative help, to catering support and facilities maintenance. By volunteering people are contributing to their community, meeting new people and gaining experience. We're currently looking for volunteers with basic computing skills for our PC Pals Digital Inclusion programme in English & Spanish. This is showing basic IT skills to people who’re new to a computer as well as techniques for job searching & applications. We would need a volunteer one hour a week over eight weeks (or any time you can offer). As spring is approaching we're also looking for volunteers to assist in our Edible Yard at the back of the Centre, with tasks varying from composting and planting to feeding our chickens (when they arrive!). Please note priority will be given to residents living in south Islington. Volunteer Application Form (PDF) If you are interested or want to learn more, call 020 7549 8181 or email [email protected]. St. Luke's Volunteer Policy (PDF) Read about our volunteer Luisa Luisa is one of our volunteers, giving up her time every Thursday to offer manicures for just £5 to over 55s members. Luisa kindly donates all this money to St Luke’s, which is vital to help fund future services and activities. The thought of sitting at home after retirement didn’t suit Luisa, and with extensive professional experience in manicuring, she wanted to do something she loved that benefited other people. She has now been coming to St Luke’s for approximately ten years, and loves the companionship. Over that time Luisa has raised hundreds of pounds towards activities in the club room. Luisa is an active member of St Luke’s, and is a regular at our art classes, sewing classes and lunch club. In her spare time she also sings in a local choir, so life is never quiet! The work of our volunteers helps St Luke's Community Centre offer the range and variety of services and activities it does on a daily basis. If you would like to help out, why not fill in the form above or contact us?
