Volunteer for us

St Luke’s Community Centre relies on volunteers to enable us to run the wide range of activities and services that we do. There are a range of volunteering opportunities available, from reception and administrative help, to catering support and facilities maintenance. By volunteering people are contributing to their community, meeting new people and gaining experience.

A full list of volunteer opportunities is available here.

If you are interested in volunteering, improving your English language or developing skills for your CV, please get in touch now! Please note priority will be given to residents living in south Islington.

Please be aware that you may be asked to undergo a disclosure check if your role comes into contact with children and vulnerable adults.

Read about our volunteer Luisa

Luisa is one of our volunteers, giving up her time every Thursday to offer manicures for just £5 to over 55s members. Luisa kindly donates all this money to St Luke’s, which is vital to help fund future services and activities. The thought of sitting at home after retirement didn’t suit Luisa, and with extensive professional experience in manicuring, she wanted to do something she loved that benefited other people. She has now been coming to St Luke’s for approximately ten years, and loves the companionship. Over that time Luisa has raised thousands of pounds towards activities in the club room.

Sewing club at St Lukes

Luisa is an active member of St Luke’s, and is a regular at our art classes, sewing classes and lunch club. In her spare time she also sings in a local choir, so life is never quiet!

The work of our volunteers helps St Luke's Community Centre offer the range and variety of services and activities it does on a daily basis. If you would like to help out, why not fill in the form above or contact us?

    About the centre

We own a large Community Centre on the edge of the City of London, a diverse area containing extremes of wealth and poverty. Our modern Community Centre provides a space for local people to gather and socialise, and for us and other organisations to deliver services and activities for the local community at little or no cost.

  • Garden Room

With its own private entrance and exclusive use of a terrace garden, this spacious and flexible room offers the perfect setting for conferences, seminars, training events and parties. It is a blank canvas to create the right setting and configuration for your event, and benefits from neutral, stylish décor and lots of natural light.

  • The Loft

The Loft occupies the whole third floor of the Community Centre, and has exclusive use of an entrance (ante) room, kitchen area and toilet, within this spacious and versatile area. It is bright and airy, and ideal for meetings, conferences, training, seminars or less formal events. Its exposed Victorian steel beams and skylight windows offer wonderful views over the roof tops of London.
