Temporary Business Engagement Team Administrator (maternity cover)
We’re a community hub in south Islington providing services, activities and events for local residents of all ages. We run after-school clubs, employment support, gardening for older people and much more. Our large, modern community centre on Central Street is a great backdrop for our varied activities, and we have several outdoor spaces for visitors to enjoy.

Job Description
Role: Business Engagement Team Administrator (temporary maternity cover)
Reporting to: Business Engagement Manager
Responsible for: Volunteers, Students (related to this post and as required)
Salary: £30,000 pa pro rata
Terms: 22.5 hours per week, occasional weekend/evening work will be required and offered on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Place of work: St Luke’s Community Centre, 90 Central Street, London EC1V 8AJ
Other terms and benefits include: 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata), life cover, stakeholder pension, flexible working, season ticket/bicycle loan and regular staff socials.

Job Purpose
To provide effective and confident administrative support to the Business Engagement team, to ensure the smooth running of the Business Engagement Programmes. In particular the work of the PC Pals Digital Inclusion Programme and other ongoing corporate-led programmes. The Administrator will support the Business Engagement team to develop sustainable relationships with local businesses to establish long-term projects and ad hoc events utilising corporate volunteers that meet the local community’s needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver PC Pals Programme, a digital inclusion project, with the recruitment of volunteers, oversee waiting list and co-ordinate weekly rota
  • Provide administrative support to the Firm Futures business start-up programme
  • Co-ordinate feedback forms and evaluation to demonstrate the impact of the programmes
  • Support the planning (and delivery as needed) of other Business Engagement programmes including our regular programme of older people’s activities, delivery of cookery school support and development of the new Business & IT Support Hub
  • Maintain monitoring database systems to ensure the Business Engagement Project KPIs are met.
  • Assist with updating St Luke’s Corporate Volunteer Handbook and procedure
  • Support with developing marketing materials for Business Engagement Projects
  • Assist with updating the Business Engagement webpages for the St Luke’s website
  • Respond to telephone and email enquiries efficiently and promptly
  • Provide cover for other Business Engagement programmes as necessary e.g., Job Club sessions during team absence/annual leave
  • To maintain manual and computer-based records creating efficient and appropriate systems for managing personal data
  • To oversee and assist in the upkeep of the facilities and equipment by reporting defects or issues as necessary
  • To comply with the Charity’s policies on Diversity and Equal Opportunities, Fire, Health and Safety, Safeguarding etc
  • To carry out any other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job and St Luke’s, the title of the post and it’s grading as directed by the Business Engagement Manager


  • Outstanding organisational, administrative and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently with a range of people
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work comfortably under pressure within a busy environment
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva (or willingness to learn Canva)
  • Understanding of how race, sex, age and other issues are relevant when providing support to users and in all dealings with staff, trustees, clients and other individuals
  • Ability to anticipate problems, design solutions, take initiative and be creative
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to work flexibly including weekends and evening work
  • Able to work alone dealing with tasks as directed as well as work effectively within a team.


  • Experience working in a community setting
  • Experience working within a Corporate Social Responsibility setting
