Cookery School
Community classes and activities in St Luke's fully-equipped Cookery School.
Cookery School at St Luke’s
St Luke’s Cookery School is a cooking space with a difference, using income from private hire to fund our free community cookery classes for St Luke’s members of all ages. There are eight fully-equipped cooking stations, including one with full wheelchair access. We host after-school and holiday clubs for youngsters learning kitchen and food preparation skills that last a lifetime, and adult classes where people can learn to cook fresh food from scratch, making household budgets stretch further.
In our classes we use as much donated food as possible that might otherwise go to waste or food that is grown in our Edible Yard. With a wide range of quality equipment from KitchenAid mixers and Magimix food processers, to ice-cream makers, pasta rollers and our outdoor pizza oven, you will have all the tools to make a tasty meal. We also have an outdoor seating area in the garden at the back of the Centre and a dining room where the group can enjoy a chat over their food afterwards.
Our Community Cookery School is a crucial part of the services we offer at St Luke’s. With the cost of living crisis our community chef provides courses for families to learn new skills in how to use surplus food from the food hub to make healthy nutritious meals, and how to make household budgets go further.
