Transport Services
To support older people with mobility, or other health problems, St Luke's offers transport services to local community members.
TRANSPORTATION SERVICE
For some people, getting older can mean getting out and about becomes more difficult. To support older people with mobility, or other health problems, St Luke’s south Islington offers a transport service.
Our daily transport service ensures older people with mobility or other health problems can still enjoy the Centre and feel part of their community. We own a fully-accessible mini bus and employ a MIDAS qualified and experienced mini bus driver/carer. Our transport service is a door-to-door service and available to all our social care members. In addition, all members can register themselves on the ‘occasional users’ transport list and take lifts to or from the Centre if the weather is poor or they are feeling unwell.
This service is available to St Luke’s members aged over 55, living within our area of benefit who are disabled, have limited mobility or are at risk of being isolated and who would otherwise be unable to participate at the Centre. In order to get the most out of coming to our Centre, we encourage transport service users to take part in the friendly and informal activities programme and they can also attend our subsidised Lunch Club. Finally, members need to be able to stand up from a seated position independently or with minimal assistance. Older people with greater needs are welcome at the Centre along with their personal carer.
