About us Our Centre & what we do What we do and who we help Community is at the heart of everything we do, and our spacious Community Centre on Central Street enables us and other organisations to offer services and activities for those who need them at little or no cost. Our aim is to improve the quality of lives for people living in our area of benefit (details below) and break down barriers, particularly for the most vulnerable. We are now open longer hours during the week and at weekends: Monday to Thursday 9am-7pm, Friday 9am-5pm, Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm. Watch this space for extended activities and services in that time. We have a daily Lunch Club for anyone over 55 living in Islington, with a healthy, subsidised three-course lunch. We have a programme of free after school classes for children, including cookery, table tennis, gardening, art and dance. We also have daily activities for adults including employment support, sewing, line-dancing, art, table tennis, walking and much more. We also run many one-off events and activities for locals. Click here to find out what is happening and follow us on social media. We have large and small rooms for getting people together, and facilities that enable us to run varied events, an online centre with free WiFi and much more for all ages. We have a fully-equipped Cookery School, which can be hired out, with all the income going back into classes to teach the local community about healthy home cooking on a budget and avoiding food waste. We also work outside in the community supporting other groups and running community events. We can assist with applications for Cloudesley welfare grants for those struggling with long-term health problems. Please call our Helpline for information. Our Area of Benefit St Luke's can only use its own funds on charitable purposes supporting people living within a defined geographical area. We call this our area of benefit. Click here for a map of that area. We may still be able to support you if you live just outside these boundaries, so please contact us for more details T: 020 7549 8181 E: [email protected] We're a designated Safe Haven St Luke’s is a designated Safe Haven and part of dementia-friendly Islington, a public place to seek refuge. We have trained staff to take care of people in need and provide a safe place to any resident who is feeling vulnerable or unsafe when out and about in the community. This might be because they are being targeted or harassed, or because they are feeling unwell or confused. This is intended to reduce the fear of crime within Islington whilst also empowering and informing residents about how best to report crime or anti-social behaviour. Our Green Promise We at St Luke’s are committed to protect and enhance the environment for future generations by acting responsibly and considering environmental, social and economic factors in our decision making.
